Alice Griffith Carr Papers

Antioch Writers' Workshop Records

Abstract

Founded in 1986, the Antioch Writers' Workshop is a nonprofit organization that encourages creative writing by offering classes and seminars. It has evolved over the years from a community of writers who mingled with faculty and students informally throughout the day into a fiscal agent of the Antioch College. The records include meeting minutes, correspondence, financial and membership records, photographs, posters, VHS, pamphlets, newsletters, and multimedia.

Oscar Edwin Carr Papers

A life-long resident of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Carr attended Antioch College, then worked in his father's nursery business which he eventually took over in the 1920s. The bulk of his papers date from 1888 to 1906 and consist of correspondence from various family members and women friends.

Abstract Born April 10, 1806 in Virginia, Derostus Ladley was a minister and prominent member of the Christian Connection / Connexion (also called the Christian Church). From 1838-1852, the Ladley family moved around Ohio as he preached and founded churches. Oscar D. Ladley Papers

Oscar D. Ladley was a career army officer who fought in the Civil War with Company G, 75th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was later assigned to Fort Sully in the Dakota Territories. His papers consist primarily of letters written to his mother and sisters in Yellow Springs, Ohio, telling of his Civil Was experiences, and later, his life as a frontier army officer.
